In a powerful series of public comments to the Lane Community College Board of Education on Wednesday, seventeen LCCEA members spoke about the value of academic freedom as essential for a healthy democracy and called upon the Board of Education to affirm these values. Speakers called attention to, among other things, the impacts of budget allocations and cuts that threaten the Student Health Center, cuts to wrap-around student services that support enrollment, cuts to Library services, workload issues, curriculum cuts to DEI related curriculum, among other areas.
