This past week, the LCCEA sponsored two social events to bring faculty together in anticipation of the new academic year. On September 19, some 30 faculty and their friends/families gathered at the Bier Stein for appetizers and conversation, and then on Thursday September 26, more than 100 faculty gathered at the LCC Longhouse for the kickoff meeting of the year including an ice cream social. Check back for more details of what’s in store this year and to learn about celebration of the LCCEA’s GOLD Anniversary!

Late Summer Announcements & Important Dates for Your Calendar
Sunday, September 15 – Selfie Contest Deadline
Submit your selfie photo in LCCEA attire, and/or with LCCEA swag. Photographers of winning selfies will be awarded a drink ticket (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) that you can redeem at our Fall Welcome Gathering. Submit your selfies to lcceaaction@lanecc.edu.
Now through Sept 15 – OEBB Health Insurance Open Enrollment
Open enrollment is optional this year, so all faculty who currently have LCC-provided health insurance will have their insurance plan choices automatically rolled over for next year. If you have changes to dependents or wish to change your plan selection, you should log in to OEBB by September 15. Employee contributions will remain largely the same for employee only, employee plus spouse/partner, and employee plus child(ren) tiers, but for the full family tier, monthly payroll deductions will increase incrementally each year until the contractual 90% employer contribution/ 10% employee contributions threshold is reached. The increase for faculty contributions for full-family insurance will be higher this year than recent years due to the higher COLA. However, after this year, we anticipate that rate increases will be minimal for all tiers, including full-family. Faculty with full family insurance who prefer higher deductibles over payroll contributions may wish to consider Moda Plan 2 as an option instead of Moda Plan 1. Please see rate charts for contracted faculty and part-time faculty for details.

Now through Election Day
Increased funding for community colleges and other education initiatives comes from having a pro-education supermajority in the state house and Senate. Faculty are invited to sign up for phone banking and canvassing shifts to support candidates who will help create the colleges and schools our communities deserve in Oregon.
Lane Community College Education Association
LCCEA is the faculty union representing the 200 full-time and 375 part-time faculty of Lane Community College.

LCCEA Members Enjoy EMS Game in the Sun
LCCEA members, family and friends came out to watch the Eugene Emeralds in the glorious May sunshine on Wednesday, May 23rd, courtesy of the LCCEA Membership Committee. Membership Committee Chair Wendy Simmons led faculty in cheering on Adrienne Mitchell, our union president, as she threw the first pitch to open the game. Unfortunately the Ems lost to Spokane, 3-9, but fans enjoyed choice seats by the first baseline and “Sluggo Slams” for supper as they relaxed for an evening out. Faculty are looking forward to wrapping up a successful 2023-24 school year with just weeks to go before graduation.
